RALPH J. FJELD

Ralph James Fjeld was born November 3, 1926 to John and Anna (Williams) Fjeld in Primghar, Iowa. He was baptized at Paullina Siloam Lutheran Church and later confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar. In 1963, he became a member of the American Reformed Church in Primghar, where he served several terms on the Consistory and as General Fund Treasurer.
Ralph graduated from Primghar Community High School in 1944. In September 1950, he and three other gentlemen were the first draftees from O’Brien County to be called to serve their country in the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged September 1952. Ralph was united in marriage to Lila TePakse on October 28, 1955 at the Archer Reformed Church. He was employed for several years at Cambier Motor Company/Ewoldt Brothers Chevrolet in Primghar and prior to retirement was employed for 18 years at the Archer Co-op Grain Company. After his retirement he spent many hours doing woodworking that included numerous toys for his grandchildren.
Ralph passed away on Friday, December 3, 2010 at the Prairie View Home in Sanborn reaching the age of 84 years and 1 month.
He is survived by his wife, Lila of Primghar; their children, David and Donna Fjeld of Windom, MN; Donald and Noelle Fjeld and Dean and Tara Fjeld all of Sheldon; grandchildren, Jamey and Anna Hochstein, Timothy, Melinda, Anna Marie, Andrew, Christina, Tyler, Tori and Tanner; a great-grandson, Wilson Lee Hochstein; a sister, Betty McCrory of Storm Lake; a brother, Richard Fjeld of Zephyrhills, Florida; brother and sisters-in-law, Aletha Mouw of Sheldon; Dr. E.R. TePaske of Cedar Falls and Alvin and Sadie Storm of Archer; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Ralph was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Abigail Fjeld; his parents, parents-in-law, John and Lucy TePaske; brothers, William, Alvin and Robert; sisters-in-law, Grace Fjeld and Shirley Fjeld; brothers-in-law, Glenn McCrory and Alfred Mouw.
