Ronald Amos Aldred, the son of George and Edith (Triplet) Aldred was born April 16, 1924 in Sutherland, Iowa. He moved with his family to Primghar and graduated from Primghar High School in 1942. He entered the United States Navy on January 27, 1943 during W.W. II, serving on the U.S.S. Pittsburgh and other ships in both the African and Asiatic Pacific Campaigns and was discharged on January 10, 1946. He returned to Primghar and worked for Willey Brothers from 1951 to 1956 and later Nicholson-Edwards from 1956 until his retirement in 1998, working 47 years at the elevator. On September 5, 1953, he was united in marriage to Shirley Hinz at her parent’s farm home near Gaza, Iowa. The couple lived in Primghar where they raised their daughters. Shirley passed away on August 17, 1998 in Primghar. Ron remained in Primghar where he enjoyed being near his family and coffee time at Pro-Go. He passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, reaching the age of 86 years, 1 month and 10 days.
He was a member of the United Church of Primghar and a long time member of the Chateau-Thierry Post of the American Legion of Primghar, where he served in many offices.
Ronnie is survived by two daughters, Deb Warnke and Ron King of Coon Rapids, Iowa and Amy and her husband, Darin Logan of Primghar; seven grandchildren, Mike, Laura, Justin, Jesse, Ashli, Alyssa and Dylan; nine great grandchildren, three sisters, Dorothy Chambers of Primghar; Mildred Harms of Marcus and Shirley Kraft of Spencer; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, three children in infancy, Roxanne, William George and Mary Beth; one grandson, Joshua Warnke; two sisters, Velma Betz and Mary Lou Guetschow.
