RONALD “RON” L. BRINKMAN
Ronald Leo Brinkman, the son of Gerrit and Ruth (Kreulen) Brinkman was born January 28, 1929 in Matlock, Iowa. He received his education in Matlock and graduated from Sheldon High School in 1946, he also attended Sheldon Junior College and AIB Business School in Des Moines, Iowa. Ron served in the Iowa National Guard as a M/Sgt from 1948 – 1949 in Sheldon. On August 18, 1953, he was united in marriage to Donna Rolston at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon, Iowa; the young couple lived in Orange City for a year before moving to Sheldon in 1954. Ron started out working in the family business, Brinkman Produce; Egg and Poultry as the bookkeeper and General Manager for 22 years. He also worked for Kooistra Insurance Agency for 9 years; the Executive Director of Industrial Development for the Sheldon Chamber of Commerce for a year; Donohue’s Ltd. in Sheldon and Sioux City for 7 years; he also sold realty for ARI for 20 years, retiring in 2008. He passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at his home in Sheldon, reaching the age of 83 years and 2 months.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon, serving as a Luther league Sponsor, Sunday School Teacher, church council and was on the building committee, he had also served as the President of the Northwest Iowa Realtor Association. He enjoyed his family, ice cream cones with his granddaughter, crossword puzzles, cooking, golfing and playing cards.
Ron is survived by his wife, Donna of Sheldon; two children, a daughter, Shawn and her husband, Karl Knudsen of Boise, Idaho and a son; Kurt Brinkman of West Jordan, Utah; one granddaughter, Emily Knudsen of Boise, Idaho; a brother, Gerald Brinkman of Sun City, Arizona and a sister and her husband, Ruth and Donald Lenderink of Orange City, Iowa and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Lt. Elmer P. Brinkman MIA 1943, Lloyd Brinkman in 2005.
