SCOTT S. SNELLER

Scott Simon Sneller, age 84, of Boyden, Iowa, passed into Glory on Nov. 23, 2016.

Scott was born Nov. 14, 1932, in Sioux Center, Iowa, the youngest son of John and Gertrude Sneller. He graduated from Sioux Center High School, after attending a one room school house, Welcome No. 7 through eighth grade. He married Janice Smit of Boyden on June 22, 1956. They were able to celebrate their 60th anniversary this summer with all their children and grandchildren.

Scott and Janice started their married life farming near Sioux Center. He then went to work for Smit and Son Packing Company as a cattle buyer. After many years at Smit and Son, Scott entered into partnership to form the custom feed mixing business, Mix-Rite, in Sioux Center, where he worked until his retirement. Up until the time of his death, he remained very involved in overseeing his farming businesses.

Scott was a faithful member of the Boyden First Reformed Church where he served on the Consistory and as a Sunday School teacher for many years. He was especially committed to Sunday School, and was very proud of his Sixty Years of Perfect Sunday School Attendance. Although not a singer himself, he supported Janice in all her musical endeavors, especially her Senior Saints ministry. Scott served sixteen years on the school board for the Boyden-Hull Community School, and was an avid fan of all Comet sports. He also served as a Boyden City Councilman for seven years. Scott and Janice enjoyed many summers together at Spirit Lake, Iowa and winters in Yuma, Arizona. Scott loved golfing, fishing, and playing cards with friends and family. Above all, Scott was completely devoted to his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Janice, his daughters, Lori (Stephen) Parsons, of Bloomington, Illinois, Rhonda (Wayne) Kompelien of Lynchburg, Virginia, and Lynn (Wayne) Walker of Lawrence, Kansas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kimberly (Ben) Parsons Ladage, Auburn, Illinois, Amanda (Jordan) Parsons Browning, Jeffersonville, Indiana, Julie (Kedrin) Parsons Frias, Peabody, Massachusetts, Sam (Devin) Parsons, Richmond, Virginia, Craig (Jessica) Kompelien, Crozet, Virginia, Daniel Kompelien, Richmond, Virginia, and Scott Walker, Lawrence, Kansas. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Sneller, his mother, Gertrude Sneller, and his three brothers, Edwin, Martin, and Dames Sneller.
