Theodore Ted Kamstra

Theodore "Ted" Kamstra, age 60, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Oak View Terrace Nursing Home in Freeman, South Dakota. Funeral Services will be Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. Rev. Kevin Schneider officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, August 25, from 11:30 to 12:30 P.M. at the church, prior to the funeral service. Theodore "Ted" Robert Kamstra was born on April 26, 1956 in Keokuk, Iowa. He is the son of William and Marie (Den Beste) Kamstra. He lived his youth in Sheldon, Iowa on the family farm. He attended Sheldon Christian Grade School and Western Christian High School in Hull, Iowa, graduating in 1974. After high school, Ted attended NITC in Sheldon. He was a driver for Coca-Cola and one of his favorite jobs was over-the-road driver for Sathers Candy Company. He was united in marriage to Janice Schipper of Sibley, Iowa on December 30, 1989 in Sibley at the First Reformed Church. They lived in Sibley while Ted attended NITC in Sheldon and graduated with a degree in automated system robotics and computer programing. Ted and Janice moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota where Ted was employed at Gateway Computers for many years. He then repaired computers, doing business out of his home, until his health failed. When Ted was young, he enjoyed working on the farm, hunting and photography and had good memories of being a Cadet and attending the International Camporees. When he was older, Ted enjoyed his dogs, being outdoors, Native American symbols of eagles and wolves, and country and Christian music. Ted loved his family. His grandchildren were special to him. He was a member of Good News Reformed Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Ted passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Oak View Terrace Nursing Home in Freeman, South Dakota. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 26 years, Janice Kamstra of Sioux Falls, SD; son, Robert (Tracy) Kamstra of Bennington, NE; daughter, Tawnya Kamstra of Houston, TX; honorary daughter, Kaylene Van Lingen of Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren; his mother, Marie Kamstra of Sheldon, IA; one brother, Tim (Barb) Kamstra of Sheldon, IA; one sister, Nancy (Robert) Lawler of Sheldon, IA; three sisters-in-law, Lorraine (Ron) Kemmerer of Melbourne, IA, Lois (Merle) Harms of Story City, IA, Shirley (David) Rickerl of Boone, IA; brother-in-law, Ken (Carol) Schipper of Brookings, SD; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Theodore Robert Kamstra, Jr.; his father, William Kamstra; and parents-in-law, John and Marlys Schipper.
