THEODORE TED SCHIPPER
Ted Schipper was born in Orange City, Iowa on April 25, 1919, the son of William and Elizabeth Schipper. On August 18, 1940, Ted was united in marriage to Adeline Libolt in Custer, South Dakota. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and worked for the C&NW Railroad for 44 years, retiring in 1979. During that time, he and Adeline resided in Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin. Following retirement, the couple enjoyed life on Lake Oconto, Wisconsin, their years in Paullina, and for twenty years they wintered in southern Texas. Ted was a member of the American Legion, the V.F. W. and the First Presbyterian Church of Paullina. He loved golfing, bowling, fishing, playing cards, and playing and coaching baseball. Ted was fortunate to maintain a sense of humor and a sharp mind until the end. He passed away on Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Iowa reaching the age of 95 years, 5 months and 29 days.
He is survived by his children, Sandra K. Schipper of Excelsior, Minnesota; Dennis T. (Marilyn) Schipper of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; William J. (Linda) Schipper, of Denver, Colorado; and daughter-in-law, Marvis Schipper (Chris Mueller) of Crystal Lake, Illinois. Also surviving are grandchildren, Catherine (Bob) Linning, Bradley (Margy) Schipper, Chad Schipper, Sara (Toshi Nishihara) Schipper, Preston (Kimberly) Schipper, Colin, Austin, and Erin Schipper, and great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Rebecca, and Douglas Linning, Star and Alex Schipper and Rain Nishihara.
Ted was preceded in death by his beloved wife Adeline on April 23, 2012; his son, Douglas in 1985; his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
