VERONA M. BEHRENS

Verona Mildred Behrens the daughter of William and Elizabeth Ehrich was born April 9, 1916 in Elmore, Minnesota. She was baptized on April 30, 1916. She attended St. John Parochial School and was confirmed into the Lutheran Church on May 11, 1930 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Elmore, Minnesota. On July 10, 1938 Verona Ehrich was united in marriage to Norwald Herman Behrens at St. John’s in Elmore, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with four children. Verona was an active participant in her community and church.
She was a member of the Ladies Aid, Dorcas and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. In 1945, Verona Behrens, along with her husband, Norwald, moved their growing family to Germantown, Iowa where Norwald served as principal of St. John’s Lutheran School from 1945 until 1958.In 1958 the family moved to Paullina to the family home at 215 West Greene Street. While in Paullina Verona was employed as an assistant librarian. She was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. Norwald preceded her in death on November 23, 2003 in Paullina. She remained in Paullina until December of 2007 when she moved to Arizona to be closer to her family.
Forever missing her will be her three children, Roger (Kate) Behrens, Gloria Hammon and Deanne French, along with her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, eldest son Gene, parents and three brothers.
Verona always thought of Paullina as her home. She often reminisced about her numerous friends and great memories here. The cards from many of you were the bright spots in her days these last years.
