Waldemar Ambrose “Walt” Beldt, the son of Fred A. and Albena K. (Walgenbach) Beldt, was born November 9, 1919 on the family farm near Matlock, IA. He attended country school in Dale Township of Lyon County, IA and Sheldon High School. On May 26, 1947, he was united in marriage to Lillian Evelyn Peters at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sheldon, IA. The young couple made their home on the family farm northwest of Sheldon and farmed this land together. He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian on August 23, 1993. Walt continued helping his children with the farm even in later years. Walt passed away on Friday, March 16, 2007, at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, IA, reaching the age of 87 years, 4 months and 7 days.
Walt was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sheldon, where he had served on the school board and the churches financial committee; he was a 30+ year member of Right to Life and a 66 year member of the St. Patrick’s Knight’s of Columbus and he has donated a ½ of beef every year to St. Patrick’s Fun & Fund Day.
Walt leaves to cherish his memory, five children, Patricia Anne and her husband, Charles Bell of Lebanon, MO; Barbara and her husband, John Addengast of Ashton, IA; Charles and his wife, Christine Beldt of Ashton, IA; David Beldt of Sheldon, IA and Lawrence Beldt of Omaha, NE; fourteen grandchildren, two brothers, Milford and his wife, Maxine Beldt of Longmont, CO; Harold Beldt of Sheldon, IA; and an aunt, Alida Walgenbach of Hospers, IA; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a grandson, Jacob Beldt; two brothers, Lauren and Howard Beldt; two sisters, Lorraine Brinkman and Delores Richardson.


God saw he was getting tired,
