WANDA I. FRIEND
Wanda Ione Friend, the daughter of Judson and Stella (Boyce) Shannon was born August 15, 1921 in Folsom, Iowa. She received her education and attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Wanda was united in marriage to Johnnie Arrick and later married Raymond Friend. Wanda worked as a cook at the Cherokee Villa and other nursing homes and restaurants, before she retired in 1993. She has resided in Primghar for the last 9 years. Wanda passed away at her home in Primghar, Iowa on Wednesday, January 30, 2008, reaching the age of 86 years, 5 months and 15 days.
She was a member of the Church of Christ in Primghar and the Friendship Circle; she was also a member of the Women’s V.F.W. Auxiliary in Cherokee, Iowa. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting and she loved her dog, Toby.
Wanda leaves to cherish her memory her three children and their spouses, Judy and Hank Phipps; Harry and Connie Arrick; Cheryl and Michael Wilbur all of Primghar, Iowa; twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by both of her husbands, a son, Edward Boyce Arrick; her parents, three brothers, Raymond, Clayton and Judson; and three sisters, Edith, Leora and Lois.
