WILLIAM R. “BILL” DUNN
William Richard “Bill” Dunn, the son of Darold and Priscilla (Sneller) Dunn, was born December 5, 1943 in Rock Valley, Iowa. As a child he moved with his mother to Sheldon for awhile and then to Ocheyedan, where he grad-uated from the Ocheyedan High School in 1962. After high school, Bill served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany from June of 1962 – 1965. He was united in marriage to Mary Bogaard on January 15, 1967 in Ocheyedan, Iowa. They made their home in George, Iowa for a short time, before moving to Sheldon. Bill had been employed with Ag Processing Inc. in Sheldon for 38 years. Bill passed away on June 1, 2008 at his home in Sheldon, reaching the age 64 years, 5 months and 27 days.
Bill was a member of the United Methodist Church and had served on several of the churches board, Pastor to Parish, Trustee, United Methodist Men and their board, attended Sunday school and had been a part of the Last Supper Presentation. He was a past member of the Sheldon Lions. He enjoyed biking, running, golfing, traveling especially to Florida; he also liked working in his yard and gardening and playing with the grandkids.
Bill is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary of Sheldon; their two sons, Michael and his wife, Deanna Dunn of Indianola, Iowa and Todd Dunn of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three grandchildren, Adam, Brady and Chloe; his mother Priscilla Douma of Sheldon, Iowa; his father, Darold Dunn of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; a half brother, Peter Dunn of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; and other relatives and friends.
