ARLENE E. SAMPSON
Arlene E. Sampson, the daughter of Clarence and Emma (Steuck) Steffens was born on January 14, 1930 in Primghar, Iowa. As a child, she grew up in rural Primghar and received her education and graduated from Primghar High School. She married Milton Sampson in 1948 and they farmed and raised livestock south of Hartley for 15 years. To this union, they were blessed with their daughter, Nancy. In 1963, they purchased and moved to the Frank Parcaut farm northeast of Sutherland. Arlene was a hardworking farm wife. After the couple's divorce, Arlene continued to live on the farm, eventually moving into Hartley. She diligently tended to her acreage up to her hospitalization. Arlene passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at the Spencer Hospital in Spencer, Iowa reaching the age of 86 years, 5 months, and 8 days.
Arlene was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar. She enjoyed camping, polka dancing, and playing cards when visiting friends and relatives. She collected many John Deere and cardinal collectibles. Her two grandchildren were the apple of her eye.
Left to cherish Arlenes memory is her daughter, Nancy and her husband Brad of Hartley, Iowa; two grandchildren, Cassi Miller of Belgrade, Montana and Dylan Miller of Hartley, Iowa; one brother, LeRoy Steffens of Hartley; one sister, Louise and her husband Oliver Vogt of Spencer, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
