Obituary

Bradley Ray Andersen, 70, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away Saturday, April 11, 2020 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Brad, the son of Hans and Norma Andersen, was born July 7, 1949 in Primghar, Iowa. He grew up in Paullina, Iowa and graduated from Paullina High School. After high school, Brad moved to Des Moines and worked at various jobs. He started with Federal Express in 1976 and worked there until his retirement in 2014.

Brad was an avid bicyclist, and enjoyed riding in Ragbrai with his Team Stops-A-Lot. He worked out at the YMCA in Des Moines, and enjoyed golfing various courses around Des Moines. Brad was a member of Echo Valley Country Club and the Iowa National Guard Reserves.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Dawn Waser; three sisters, Betty Engelke, Darlene Blumeyer and Caroline Rensink; and brother, Merle Beermann.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Lori (Brent) Merkley of Waukee, IA, Melissa Andersen (Ryan Higdon) of Des Moines, IA and their mother, Barb (Carlson) Andersen of Norwalk, IA; six grandchildren; his brothers, Henry Andersen of Hartley, IA, Ronald (Betty) Beermann of Paullina, IA, and Merlin (Jen) Beermann of Sheldon, IA; his sister, Bertha Laursen of Mitchell, SD; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 18, 2020 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway. Social distancing rules will apply. Please feel free to wear your mask. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Primghar, IA on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 1:30 p.m.
