CANDACE B. BLOCKER
Candace Candy Betty Blocker, the daughter of John and Marian (Radloff) Merchant was born December 12, 1952 in Worthington, Minnesota. She received her education in Worthington, graduating from Worthington High School in 1971. On May 4, 1974, she was united in marriage to Allan Blocker at Saint Andrews United Methodist Church in Sanborn, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple settled in Sheldon where she was employed by Aalfs Manufacturing for several years. She stayed home to raise her family which she loved to do and when her grandchildren came into the family she loved to care for them also. She passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 with her family by her side at the Sanford Fargo Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota, reaching the age of 64 years, 6 months and 1 day.
She was a member of the St. Patricks Catholic Church in Sheldon and the Guild of the church. She was active in the church helping with many funeral lunches and the Babes program at St. Patricks Catholic School. Candy was the loving mother of three children and dedicated herself to being a homemaker. She loved to sing to her children and grandchildren and was seldom found without a song in her heart. She dedicated her life to her family and the church, often volunteering at church events. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and loved taking family to movies and plays. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her wonderful sense of humor and her laughter that brightened many a day.
Candy leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 43 years, Allan Blocker of Sheldon; three children, Erin (Sean) Nash of Kansas City, MO; John Blocker of Springfield, MO and Katie (Eric) Meinecke of Sheldon, IA; her five grandchildren, Delaney and Neve Nash and Avery, Ella and Olivia Meinecke; one brother, Michael Merchant of St. Paul, MN; also other relatives and many friends.
