CHAD (WEE WEE) J. SIMM
Chad (Wee Wee) James Simm, a beloved husband, dad, son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Chad’s love for the outdoors began at a young age while growing up on the farm. He enjoyed many fun activities with his brother, Mike. During his younger years he participated in 4-H, little league baseball and then football in high school.
After graduating from South O’Brien in 1993, Chad made the move to Wyoming to work on a ranch where his love for the outdoors and mountains intensified. When returning back to Paullina, he worked as a hired man on the Rausch Farm. In 1998, Chad and his friend, Jeremy Jalas created a trucking partnership called Longhorn Express, where Chad was currently driving and the sole owner of the company. During these years of trucking, Chad made many lasting friendships that continued until his passing. In May of 2016 3-S Washout was established.
In 2001 Chad and Shelly were set up by friends to go on a couple’s date where the connection was instant and they married in August of 2006. In December of 2006, Chad solidified his role as a dad and adopted Joshua, to make the Simm Family of 3!
Chad had many passions in his life but most importantly that included hunting and fishing. His passion for hunting wasn’t just about the hunt, but the camaraderie of hunting with his family and friends! Chad often shared stories with others about his hunts with Shelly, Josh, and his friends and in return he enjoyed listening to other stories as well
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shelly, son, Joshua of Paullina; parents, Bruce (Pam) Simm of Paullina and Cheryl (Ed) Grotenhuis of Alton; brother, Mike (Cindy) Simm of Paullina; parents-in-law, Jim (Connie) Hoft of Lake View, Iowa and Roxy (the late Leon) Rubendall of Sac City, Iowa; sister-in-law, Angie Fischer of Sac City, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Jordan (Charlie) Flickinger, Riley and Carly Fischer, Shelby (Brytton) Kelleher and Colby Simm; also step brothers and sisters, several aunts and uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Preceding him in death are his grandparents, William and Violet Simm and Glenn and Darlene Weidaman and his beloved hunting companion Charlie.
He is now on his final hunt, roaming the eternal Heavens for that perfect place to sit and watch over us all.
