CHARLES L. HAAG

Charles Lewis (Louis) “Charlie” Haag of Sheldon, Iowa passed away Friday, February 27, 2026, at the Sanford Hospital in Sheldon, Iowa.

Charles Lewis Haag was born on July 5, 1940, in Hospers, Iowa. He was the son of Sylvester and Mary (Orban-Kiersch) Haag. He was raised on the farm near Hospers where he attended Hospers school. Following graduation Charles joined the Army and was proud to serve his country. After honorably being discharged from the Army Charles helped on the family farm and was a mechanic. He had many jobs throughout his wonderful life. He worked at Pamida, Conoco Station, and for 34 years at Carls Zeiss Vision Care in Sheldon, Iowa. He also managed and took care of the Northpark Apartments for 35 + years and still was helping up until his passing. He also worked at Den Hartog’s Industry until the age of 80.

On March 15, 1969, he was united in marriage to Marcia (Dykshoorn). From this union two daughters were born, Janelle and Sarah. They later divorced but remained close friends throughout the years. For Charles, his girls were his world. In 1993 another girl came for him to love, Alexandria. She became apart of his whole world until she was united in marriage and gained a grandson-in-law, Jordan. Then his world became complete when his name’s sake great-grandson, Louis was born. Charles loved them with his whole heart.

Charles could be seen driving all over town in his little pick-up. He was always the person anyone could call for help, and he would always be right there. He could always be found mowing and doing any outdoor work no matter the season or temperature. He loved to socialize and support our community.

Charles will be loved and cherished by his children; Janelle of Nampa, Idaho, and Sarah of Sheldon; granddaughter, Alexandria (Jordan) and great grandson, Louis of Sheldon; sister, Dolly Schlichte of Sheldon; several nieces and nephews and many others whom he loved.

His memory will live on in our hearts and by his donations of being a donor.
