Celebration of Life services for Clarice Kreykes, 98, of Sheldon who passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon. Services will be at noon on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at the Sheldon City Park. Burial has taken place at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.

Arrangements are under the care of Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

Clarice Kreykes was born May 28, 1927, in Orange City, Iowa to Nick & Nellie Postuma. She was the first of 5 children.

She lived her entire life in Sheldon. She graduated from high school in 1946 and married Eugene Kreykes on October 20, 1947.

Clarice & Gene were wonderful parents to 6 adorable children. Gene passed away on May 24, 1999.

Clarice was quite a character. Loved her family and was a stay-at-home mom until she finally got her drivers license at the age of 40. Then there was no stopping her. She went on to making selling Avon her full-time job. She did that for 40 years. She also loved to read and play golf in her spare time.

She happily went to live at Fieldcrest when the time was right but after a head injury, she had to move to Sanford Senior Care in 2020.

Her final days were not pleasant, but she was well taken care of by the wonderful staff there, until her peaceful passing on April 21, 2026.

She will be missed by many!

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gene, her son Jeff, a sister Francis, a brother Bernie Postuma, 2 sons in laws Mike Maranell & Randy Bowman, as well as many other family members and friends. We are sure she was greeted with open arms!

Clarice is survived by 5 children, Bobbi Bowman, Jim (Beth) Kreykes, Patricia Maranell, Scott (Linda) Kreykes, Leisa (Kevin) Baartman, and special family friend Glenda Kreykes. She is also survived by 2 brothers Frank (Suzie) Postuma & Nick (Paula Jean) Postuma, 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter and numerous bonus great & great great grandchildren.
