           Services for Darrell D. Wilson, age 74, of Boyden who passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon.  His celebration of life will be 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Living Water Community Church in Sheldon.

            Visitation with family present will be from 5 – 7 P.M. on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Boyden.

Darrell Duane Wilson, the son of Carnell Ray “Kirk” and Anna (Nelson) Wilson was born on June 20, 1948, in Sioux City, Iowa. He received his education and graduated from Riverside High School in Sioux City. After high school he started working for the State of Iowa as a gravel inspector. He married the love of his life Lila Bonestroo on July 25, 1980, in Boyden. He opened up his Nite Owl Tune Up shop in Boyden and began working for Sioux County where he became Foreman until his retirement. Darrell passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon reaching the age of 74 years, 5 months, and 6 days. 

Darrell loved spending time with his family and going camping and fishing. He also enjoyed tinkering in his shop as he always had a project to work on. He was proud of his lawn and keeping his vehicles clean. He always had the best one-liners including “It’s not an item”. 

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Lila of Boyden; two daughters and their husbands, Holly and Bryan McCuen and Darla and Ross Teerink both of Worthington, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Bryly, Dayna, and Katyn McCuen, Raylen, Kynlee, and Ryker Teerink; Vicki Allyn from a previous marriage; brother, Lee and Dusty Wilson of North Carolina; mother-in-law Henrietta Bonestroo; also, other relatives and friends.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law Leonard Bonestroo.
