Doris Borth, 82, of Sheldon, IA, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021, at her home.

Doris Arlene Borth was born March 26, 1939, in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Oscar and Martha (Loberg) Rustad. She was raised in rural West Fargo. Her father, Oscar, took Doris to Sunday school at the Horace Lutheran Church where she was confirmed.

After graduating from West Fargo High School, she wanted to become a nurse. Doris entered the nursing program at Grand Forks, graduating as a Registered Nurse. She completed her internship at the state hospital in Jamestown where she met her future husband, Robert Borth. They were married January 26, 1961. The couple lived in many different states Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Nebraska, Minnesota, and North Dakota.

For the next 30 plus years, Doris cared for infants, was a surgical nurse, worked with the elderly in nursing homes and was a Stevens Minister for the grief of the dying. The last place she worked was at the Worthington, Minnesota hospital. After retiring, her peers at the hospital, awarded her the Florence Nightingale Award for excellence in nursing.

Surviving is a son: Michael of West Fargo; a daughter: Lisa Danielson of Suamico, WI; sister: Mary (Leonard) Hammerud of Minneapolis; several nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Bob; a son: Christopher.
