DOROTHY A. MITCHELL
Dorothy Ann Mitchell was born on June 11, 1929 at Ashton, Iowa to John and Lena (Johnson) Haseborg. She attended country school and graduated from the Sheldon High School in 1947. She married William Mitchell on February 23, 1956 at United Methodist Church in Sheldon. She was employed by the City of Sheldon for 42 years, the first 12 years as secretary and 30 years as City Clerk-Treasurer. She also served as bookkeeper for the Quality Shoe Repair which she and her husband owned and operated for many years.
She was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening and baking. She will be remembered as a very loving, caring and giving person.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters, Eleanor Freimuth, Florence, Anna and Helena Haseborg and her brother-in-law, Ed Freimuth.
God saw she was getting tired,
And a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around her,
And whispered, “Come with Me.”
With tearful eyes, we watched her,
And saw her fade away.
Although we loved her dearly,
We could not make her stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.
