Dudley Dean Hinz, the son of Harry and Hazel (Strampe) Hinz, was born on December 10, 1947 in Primghar, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Germantown. He attended St. John’s Lutheran School in Germantown and Paullina High School, graduating in 1966. Dudley then went on to vocational school in Omaha before starting his career as a mechanic for Schroeder’s Implement in Paullina.
On August 24, 1968, he married Nancy Postma at the Presbyterian Church in Paullina. They had two children, Dean and Dawn. After Dudley’s parents retired, he farmed for the next 37 years until his retirement to Minnesota.
Dudley believed in the importance of service work and over the years had volunteered for the Paullina Fire Department, the Paullina Town Council, various Church council positions, and most recently the Lions Club in Ashby, MN.
Many knew that Dudley could not resist a good project - - whether it was rebuilding an engine, restoring a car, restoring old tractors, or most recently an old house. He was a voracious reader, enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, Ten Tiny Town trips, live music, and spending time with Nancy and his family.
Dudley is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Nancy; son Dean and his wife René of Phoenix, AZ; daughter Dawn and her husband Scott Draube of Sioux City, IA; grandchildren Danielle Hinz, Kevin Hinz, Emma Draube, and Ashlyn Draube.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Steven.
