EDNA E. NEGUS
Edna Emelia Kathryn (Heinl) Negus, the daughter of Edward Adam and Adele (Ewoldt) Heinl was born on June 15, 1913 on a farm southwest of Calumet, Iowa. She received her education in country school. On February 21, 1934, she was united in marriage to Delbert J. Negus at the Lutheran Church in Sheldon, Iowa. After their marriage the couple started farming south of Sutherland where they farmed for many years. The couple retired in 1966 and moved into Sutherland. Her husband preceded her in death on June 1, 1977. Edna remained in the family home and moved to the Sutherland Care Center to make her home. She passed away at the care center on Thursday, May 26, 2011 reaching the age of 97 years, 11 months and 11 days.
She was baptized on November 27, 1913 at the Lutheran Church in Marcus, Iowa and later confirmed on April 5, 1933 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee and was currently a long time member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland. She was active in her church being involved in Braille and in Helping Hand. Edna enjoyed playing cards, being a member of Straight 8 Card Club along with several other card clubs. She was a member of the KYN Club, Larrabee Leisure Club and the Sutherland Dinner Date.
Edna is survived by a granddaughter, Sheila and her husband, James Klingborg of Cherokee; four great grandchildren, Amber Lee Harper and her fiancée, Randy Ruba of Cherokee; Trinity Joseph Klingborg of Quimby, Iowa; Kyle Erb of Spirit Lake, Iowa and Robert Klingborg of Cherokee; three great-great-grandchildren, Alexis Noelle Harper of Manchester, Iowa; Heaven Leigh Harper and Carly Ann Harper of Cherokee; also other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert; a daughter, Loretta Ann Negus on May 17, 2009; a grandson, Dale Eugene Gaskill on June 1, 1995; her parents, and two sisters, Velma Crimmins and Norma Rohde.
