Services for Elaine M. Johannsen, age 74, of Paullina who passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at her residence. Her funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. on Monday, June 15, 2020 at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina with Rev. Donald Meyer ~ officiating.
Burial will be at Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina.
Visitation with family present will be from 5 – 7 P.M. on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina.
Social distancing will be practiced during the visitation and funeral.

ELAINE M. JOHANNSEN
Elaine Marie (Ploeger) Johannsen was born August 27, 1945 to Clarence and Zoa (Mudge) Ploeger in Cherokee, Iowa. She was baptized, confirmed, and later united in marriage on September 4, 1965 to Loren Johannsen at the Immanuel Evangelical Reformed Church in Schaller Iowa. She graduated from Galva Community School in Galva, Iowa and attended Nettleton Business College in Sioux City. The couple made their home in Paullina, Iowa where they were blessed with 4 children. Elaine passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2020, peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones reaching the age of 74 years.
Elaine was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Paullina, the Pairs & Spares group, the Paullina Women’s Club, her bible study, Northwest Iowa Horse Show Association where she was known as the ‘Horseshow Grandma’, and the Paullina Legion Auxiliary. Elaine & Loren were always hand in hand, never missing a ball game, a horseshow or an event of the kids and grandchildren. Elaine will forever be remembered for making her famous pizza at Piccadilly Pizza.
Elaine is survived by her husband Loren. Her children, Lori McGuire (Tim) of Holstein, Iowa; Randy Johannsen (Angela) of Paullina, Iowa; Kari Bauer (Scott) of Paullina, Iowa; Tami Johannsen (Eric) of Templeton, Iowa. Grandchildren Ashley McGuire, Amanda Nees (Andrew), Allisa Friedrichsen (Brett), Ryan McGuire, Kevin McGuire, Ross Johannsen (Makayla), Josh Johannsen, Kadie Bauer, Kanner Bauer, Kenna Bauer, Corbin McMichael, 3 step-grandchildren: Ethan, Adrianna, and Austin McMichael; and 5 – great grandchildren, Carli, Henry, Lane and Colt Friedrichsen and Mitchell Nees. Elaine is also survived by her brother Lorence Ploeger, brother -in-law Rodney Johannsen, sister-in-law Carla Johannsen, brother and sister in-laws Bill & Bev Johannsen and Ladonna & Dan Wittrock; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She preceded in her death by her parents, in-laws Clarence & Elsie Johannsen, a son-in-law, Mark Carlson, sisters–in-law Dorothy Ploeger and Arlys Johannsen, brother-in-law Marlin Johannsen, and infant nephew Jimmy Ploeger.
