ELDA E. RICHTER
Elda E. (Boesche) Richter the daughter of Frederich and Ida (Meyer) Boesche was born on May 17, 1918 in Germantown, Iowa. She was baptized on June 9, 1918 and later confirmed on March 20, 1932 at St. John Lutheran Church in Germantown. She also attended school in Germantown thru the sixth grade. She then began working as a hired girl and babysitter for various people in the area. In her late teens, she worked in the local store for several years. On November 24, 1940, she married Harold Richter and moved to the farm one mile north of Germantown. In April 1954, they adopted Mark and his sibling, Theresa. They continued to live on the farm until 1976, when they moved back to Eldas birthplace in Germantown.
Elda loved to garden, sew with her mother making clothes and quilts. She was active member of Ladies Aid and Silver and Gold. She was a life-long member of St. John Lutheran Church. She and Harold loved taking asparagus to people and selling potatoes. After Harolds death on January 11, 1986, she continued to mow her large lot with a push mower and continued with her gardening. She was a very hard worker and was very self-sufficient until her late eighties. She passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the Heartland Care Center in Marcus, Iowa where she had made her home, reaching the age of 99 years, 1 month and 12 days.
Elda leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Theresa (Lionel) Walker of Germantown, Iowa; three grandchildren, Teri (Larry) Byrd of Biloxi, MS; Gary (Sandra) Walker of Hubbard, NE; Chad (Kim) Walker of Sergeant Bluff, IA; twelve great grandchildren; Blake, Bret, Codey and Erik Walker, Kaila Klein, Heather and Micah Byrd, Eric and Michael Tiedeman, Amanda Archer, Karah Saucier and Cody Nash; nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; son, Mark; her parents, one sister, Irma and brother-in-law, Al Hummel.
