Gary Vos, age 64, of Sheldon, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at his home in Sheldon. A Celebration of Life will be at a later date. Gary Lee Vos was born on June 19, 1955 in Glenwood, Minnesota. He was the son of Gerald and Wilma (Valentine) Vos. He lived his youth in Sheldon, Iowa where he attended school and graduated from Sheldon High School. He attended NITC in Sheldon for one year. He was united in marriage to Wanda Behrens of Sheldon, Iowa on October 9, 1981 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They lived in Sheldon where Gary drove truck for Russell Ready Mix for 18 years. He was employed by Demco Manufacturing in Boyden and also shagged for Van Wyk Trucking. He later worked full time for Van Wyk Trucking for 10 years, retiring in 2018. Gary enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and being with the grandkids. He specifically enjoyed the Saturday and Sunday mornings, grabbing day old donuts and 20 oz Dr. Peppers from Casey's, for all day pheasant hunting the gravel roads of Iowa. Also, the many days fishing with his father-in-law, Hank and brother in law, Kevin. He passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at his home in Sheldon. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 38 years, Wanda Vos of Sheldon, IA; son, Kelle Vos of Ankeny, IA and daughter, Brooke (Jake) Scott of Sheldon, IA; 6 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one sister, Carol (Duane) Schmidt of Edgerton, MN; brother-in-law, Kevin Doorenbos of Sheldon, IA; sister-in-law, Illa (Randy) Renken of Sheldon, IA; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Wilma Vos; step-father, Henry (Hank) Lode; brother-in-law, Arvin Smit.
