Genesis Hope Vanden Brink, age 4 months of Sheldon, Iowa passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021 at the Sanford Medical Center NICU in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Her Memorial Service will be at 5:00 pm on Friday, January 28, 2022 at the Living Water Community Church in Sheldon, Iowa with Rev. Zac Patke ~ officiating.

Genesis Hope Vanden Brink, age 4 months (141 days) died in the arms of her parents at the Sanford Neonanal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Sioux Falls, SD. After fighting her battle of Broncho Pulmonary Dysplasia (BPD). She passed away gently into the arms of Jesus. Genesis Hope Vanden Brink is the beautiful daughter of Caleb and Sarah (Wagner) Vanden Brink. She was born on August 8th, 2021 at the Sioux Falls, SD Sanford Hospital. She came into this world with odds stacked against her due to her being a micro preemie. Geni was born at 25 weeks and 3 days gestational and was only 14.5 oz and 10.3 inches long. Geni’s life with us was short here, but impactful. She is a true testimony of God’s Pure Love. This life is full of miracles that the God almighty has blessed us with and Geni is without a doubt, One of those miracles. Genesis was definitely a feisty little girl. She would let you know what she liked and what she didn’t like. She loved to have her hands free from her swaddle, but her nurses didn’t trust her enough since she was so strong and grabby, they didn’t want her to pull her breathing tube out. She loved to snuggle her mommy and daddy. Geni loved to be sang to, read to, talked to and sometimes she just wanted to sleep. She was a very expressive little girl, with the cutest little eyebrow expressions. She was the sweetest little girl. When she reached the end of her battle, she weighed 7 lbs. & 3 oz’s. She was loved and still is by everyone that knew her by name. Gone from this world but not gone in our hearts. Let the heavens sing & dance as she approached those gated with full of heavenly deep breaths.
Genesis is survived by her parents, Caleb and Sarah Vanden Brink of Sheldon; her maternal grandparents, James & Judy Wagner of Sheldon; her paternal grandparents, Roger & Deborah Vanden Brink of Sanborn; paternal grandmother, Lana Vanden Brink of Pipestone, Minnesota; maternal great-grandmother, Mary Baker of Sheldon; maternal great-great-grandpa, Cornelius Schelling of Hawarden; maternal great-great-grandfather, John Paul Wagner Sr. of Sweet Home, Oregon.
