Funeral services for Gladys B. Paulsen, age 97, of Sanborn who passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Prairie View Home in Sanborn. Her funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina with Rev. Donald Meyer, officiating.
Burial will be at Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina.
Visitation with family present will be from 10 to 10:45 A.M. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina.
Arrangements are under the care of the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina.
Gladys B. Paulsen
Gladys Bertha (Gebert) Paulsen was born April 8, 1928, on the family farm near Germantown, IA, the daughter of Arthur & Ella (Fiddelke) Gebert. She was baptized and later confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church. She attended St. John’s Lutheran School through the 8th grade.
On April 25, 1948, Gladys was united in marriage to Lawrence Paulsen at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Germantown. This union was blessed with 4 sons, Daniel (Dan), Duane, James (Jim), and Larry (Lair). The couple farmed at Archer, Iowa, South of Granville, IA and they moved to Paullina, IA in 1978. Lawrence passed away on November 20, 2009. They were married 61 years.
Gladys enjoyed the time spent with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, whether that was in person, through a phone call or email, and loved seeing pictures of her family. Throughout the years, she enjoyed the flower beds, playing cards, reading, and her I-Pad. She did Braille and quilting in Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina and volunteer driving.
She is survived by two of her sons, Duane (Lynne) Paulsen, of Brandon, SD and Jim Paulsen of Spencer, IA, and a daughter-in-law, Lois Paulsen of Granville, IA, sister Lois Graff of Casa Grande, AZ, brother Dennis (Linda) Gebert of Granville, IA, and sister-in-law Annette Gebert, Hartley, IA and many numerous nieces and nephews.
Surviving grandchildren are Brad (Karen) Paulsen, Dean Paulsen, Laura Paulsen, Eric (Angel) Paulsen, Michelle (Tim) Suurmeyer, Danielle (Jeremy) McClennen, Lisa (Jose) Reyes, Nicole (Derek) Austin, Preston (Ciara) Paulsen.
Surviving great-grandchildren are Maxine & Jaxon Paulsen, Karissa (Robert) Beldt, Michael Paulsen, Daniel Paulsen, Anissa (Alec) Finch, Althea (Gabriel) Pagayon, Alex (Jenifer) Suurmeyer, Todd Suurmeyer, Kristen (John) Milk, Madi Paulsen, Bram & Lawson McClennen, Kennedy, Lincoln & Monroe Reyes, Jethro & Scottlyn Austin, and Hazel & Harrison Paulsen.
Surviving great-great-grandchildren are Josephine & Ridgely Suurmeyer, Tayohn, Tiahanna & Jaelyn Milk, and Adalyn Beldt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur & Ella Gebert, husband Lawrence, two sons, Daniel and Lair, her sister & brother-in-law, Alice & James Whited, and brother, Willis Gebert, brother-in-law, Ken Graff, and a great grandchild, Eric Suurmeyer.
