Henrietta Lamfers, age 88, of Brandon, South Dakota formerly of Sheldon, Iowa passed away on December 10, 2020 at Bethany Home in Brandon, South Dakota.
Henrietta Lamfers was born on September 1, 1932 to William and Carrie (Baker) Vander Streek of Rock Valley, Iowa. She was raised on a farm near Rock Valley, Iowa where she helped with various chores for her folks. Henrietta started working for the Hull Bakery in Hull, Iowa, where she met Bernie and were united in marriage on June 5, 1962. They were blessed with 57 years of marriage before Bernie passed away on August 14, 2019. After Bernie and Henrietta were married, they moved to Sheldon, Iowa where she worked at Ben Franklin and HyVee for many years. In 1964, the couple were blessed with a son, Harvey.
When Henrietta was not working, you could find her at home, listening to KIWA on the radio or reading the Sheldon newspaper. In later years, Bernie and Henrietta enjoyed many winters in Arizona where she was always busy making her craft items for Friday’s Country Store sales. In June 2015, Bernie and Henrietta moved to Fieldcrest in Sheldon, Iowa and then on to Bethany Home in Brandon, South Dakota in February 2017. Henrietta always lived her life with the knowledge that everything was in God’s hands.
Grateful for having shared her life with her, son, Harvey (Bonnie) Lamfers, Brandon, South Dakota; two grandsons, Benjamin (Jessica) Lamfers of Clear Lake, South Dakota, and Blake (fiancé Alexis Boddicker) Lamfers of Worthing, South Dakota; one great granddaughter, Reagan Lamfers; two sisters, Jesse Landaal of Worthington, Minnesota and Caroline (Gradus) Kuipers of Hull, Iowa; sister-in-law, Minerva Vander Streek of Rock Rapids, Iowa.
