Henry Franklin Schmidt, 93, passed away on June 4, 2026. Henry was born on June 3, 1933, in Sioux County, Iowa, to Edgar and Grace (Alons) Schmidt. He attended a country school before serving his country in the United States Army from 1955-1957 receiving honorable discharge.

Henry was united in marriage to Joyce Dykstra on October 4, 1957, in Archer, Iowa. Together they shared 68 years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, family, service, and love. Together, they earned their GEDs through Northwest Iowa Technical College (NITC).

Henry was a farmer, a faithful steward of the land and animals. When he was no longer physically able to farm, he owned and operated Multiple Hearing Aid Associates. He was also an exceptional caregiver to his wife, often creating innovative tools and accommodations to help make daily life easier for her. Together they traveled throughout the country, making memories and enjoying life's adventures.

Henry was known for his love of trout fishing in Wyoming, his willingness to join a game of pool, the handcrafted gifts from his wood shop, and many hours spent playing cards. His years were filled with meaningful experiences, hobbies, and treasured relationships.

He had a welcoming spirit and a heart for hospitality. Henry was selfless and generous, often helping others quietly and without recognition.

A devoted member of Parkview Assembly of God Church in Sheldon, Henry served on the church board for several years and used his woodworking talents to create many of the wood furnishings and pieces throughout the church. His Christian faith was steadfast, and his biblical knowledge was remarkable. He lived his faith through service, kindness, and commitment to others.

Henry is survived by his daughters, Patricia (Doug) Meester of Sheldon, Iowa, and Carol (Kirk) Watson of Ames, Iowa; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one sister; and one brother.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce Schmidt; his son, Everett Schmidt; his parents; his brothers, Dean Schmidt (Charlotte)and Raymond Earl Schmidt; his sister, Mary Evink (Wilbert); and his son-in-law, Kevin Kisling.

Henry's legacy of faith, generosity, hard work, and love for his family will continue to live on in all who knew him.
