Calvin Howard Krikke was born on July 20,1934, to Luke and Sadie Krikke at Archer, Iowa. The name Calvin was never used; it was the custom of the day to be named after a grandfather, but he was immediately known as Howard.
He attended Sheldon Christian School until they moved to the farm by Plessis. He then attended Sanborn Christian. He enlisted in the army in 1954 and served 18 months in Japan.
On June 3, 1958, he was united in marriage to Alvina Faber. They moved to the farm in 1959 where they lived for almost 30 years. In 1988 they moved to Sheldon.
Howard was a past member of the Sanborn CRC where he served as a deacon. They then attended Sheldon CRC where he also served on the council. Later, they became members of Cornerstone URC in Sanborn.
Howard and Alvina enjoyed many years of attending their grandchildren’s sports and activities. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart. He used his woodworking skills in building beautiful furniture for his family.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Alvina, and their 4 children: Donna (Rick) Groenendyk of Sioux Center and their children; Brian (Becky) Keizer, Bruce (Chelsey) Keizer and Shawn (April) Keizer, Denise (Keith) Keizer of Hull and their children; Derek (Brittany) Keizer, Darin (Jenna) Keizer and Kendra (Matt) Sandbulte, Diane (Kirk) Den Herder of Orange City and their children; David (Kate) Den Herder, Michael Den Herder, Lucas Den Herder and Jill (Damion) Reuvers, Dave (Carisa) Krikke of Bellflower, CA and their children; Shane Krikke, Brandon Krikke and Will Krikke, 14 great grandchildren, 1 brother Leroy (Sherry) Krikke, many nephews, nieces and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 2 sisters and his parents-in-law.
