Irma Nielsen, the daughter of Hans and Maria (Fleddermann) Hansen, was born on June 29, 1942 in Bilschau, Germany. She received her education in Germany. On December 18, 1959 she was united in marriage to Karl Nielsen in Germany. In 1961, the couple moved to Paullina. She worked at Northern Natural Gas in maintenance for 13 years, retiring in 1988. On Friday, October 16, 2020 she passed away at Orange City Area Health reaching the age of 78 years, 3 months and 18 days.
Irma was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina. She loved dogs and spending time in the garden. They spent many years wintering in Texas.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of over 60 years, Karl; two children, Rainer and his wife Carol Nielsen and Heidi Nielsen; two grandchildren, Adam (Katie Teachout) Nielsen and Erin (Kevin) Meinecke; three great grandchildren, Logan Nielsen, Noah and Harper Meineke; brother-in-law, Gunther Fries and sister-in-law, Ilse Hansen; also many relatives and friends.
Irma was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings.
