Faline was the daughter of Gilbert and Florence Sparks. She was born May 27, 1943, in Everett Pennsylvania. Her family relocated to Iowa, where she started kinder-garten at Calumet, Iowa. She graduated from Paullina High School in 1961. On June 14, 1962, she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Daniel Dau, at The Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. She was a longtime member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Calumet, Iowa. There she served as President of the Women’s Fellowship, as a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, as well as doing many janitorial tasks. Faline helped start the Red Hat group in Calumet, and enjoyed participating in all the fun activities. Faline loved spending time with her grandson, Jackson. They made cookies decorated for holidays, read stories, made forts and played games and cards. Jackson frequently accompanied Dan and Faline camping and fishing. In her spare time, Faline enjoyed playing the piano, listening to music, spending time with her family, and above all polka dancing with Dan.
