Memorial services for James “Jim” Rosenboom, age 74, of Primghar who passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at his home in Primghar. Services will be 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at the United Church of Primghar with Pastor Mike Cooper officiating.
Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with military right by the Chateau-Thiery Post of the Primghar American Legion.
Visitation with family present will be from 10 A.M. until the time of the service at the United Church of Primghar.
Arrangements are under the care of the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Primghar.
James Carl Rosenboom the son of John and Fern (Weaver) Rosenboom was born March 26, 1949, in Sheldon, Iowa. He made his home with his family north of Sheldon, Primghar, Walcott, Iowa City, Iowa before returning to Primghar, Iowa. Jim graduated with the Primghar High School class of 1967. After high school he attended General Motors mechanic school. He entered the United States Marine Corp on May 6, 1969, serving until his discharge on May 5, 1971. Jim served in Vietnam at Da Nang for one year attaining the rank of Corporal and received for his service in Vietnam the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Upon his discharge he returned to Primghar and was employed at the Bendix Corporation in Worthington, Minnesota. On August 26, 1973, he was united in marriage to Rhonda Notbohm at the United Methodist Church in Primghar. After their marriage the couple settled in Primghar where Jim was employed for 28 years by GTE Telephone Company as a repairman until his retirement in 2004. The couple made their home in Primghar and the summers were spent at Lake Okoboji. Jim passed away on Thursday June 22, 2023, at his home in Primghar reaching the age of 74 years 2 months and 26 days.
He was a member of the United Church of Primghar. He enjoyed spending time with his family, going on walks and watching the sunsets with Rhonda. Lake Okoboji and fishing were also his favorite things to do.
Jim is survived by his wife of almost 50 years Rhonda Rosenboom of Primghar, Iowa; two children son Nicholas (Kelley) Rosenboom of Muscatine, Iowa; daughter Ann Marie (Lucas) Rich of Denver Colorado; three grandchildren Emma and Tyler Rosenboom and Sloan Rich; one sister Myrna (Rodney) Heimensen of Primghar, Iowa also other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by a son Mark Rosenboom in 1985 and his parents John and Fern Rosenboom.
