Funeral services for Janet H. Rens age, 88, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, formerly of Sheldon who passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022, at Sanford USD Medical Center. Her funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 9, 2022, at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon with Rev. Kevin Muyskens ~ officiating.
Burial will be held at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.
Visitation with family present will be from 10-11 A.M. on Friday, December 9, 2022, at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon.
Arrangements are under the care of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

Janet Harriet Rens the daughter of Albert and Anna (Van Holland) Veenstra was born December 19, 1933 in Sanborn, Iowa. She received her education at the Sanborn Christian School in Sanborn. On August 1, 1960 she was united in marriage to John A. Rens at the Christian Reformed Church in Sanborn, Iowa. After their marriage the couple made their home in Sheldon, Iowa. Along with raising her family Janet worked for many years at Village Northwest in Sheldon until her retirement. Her husband John preceded her in death on October 13, 2011 in Sheldon, Iowa. The couple enjoyed over 51 years of marriage. On May 18, 2014 she was united in marriage to Rich Rens and the couple made their home in Sioux Center, Iowa where they spent 7 years together. Rich preceded her in death on February 16, 2021 in Sioux Center. Janet remained in Sioux Center until moving to Sioux Falls, South Dakota to live with her daughter Shelli in October of 2021. Janet passed away on Sunday December 4, 2022 at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota reaching the age of 88 years eleven months and fifteen days.
Janet and John were charter members of the Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon where they grew in their Christian faith and passed it on to their children. Janet enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She always had a sense of humor and a kind heart. She enjoyed playing cards, games and putting together puzzles.
Janet is survived by one daughter Shelli (Hank) Williams; son Jon (Lori) Rens; daughter-in-law Diane Rens all of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren also many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands John and Rich, two sons Ryan and Bruce; a granddaughter Jessica Schoenrock, parents, one brother and two sisters.
