Janice A. Sage, 83, of Sioux City, formerly of Paullina, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026, in Sioux City. Her celebration of life will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina. Visitation with family present will be from 10:00 A.M. until the start of the service.
Arrangements are under the care of the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina, Iowa.

Janice Ann Sage was born June 8, 1942 at home in Paullina, Iowa to Lawrence P. and Catherine (Ver Hoef) Miller. She was baptized, received her First Communion and was Confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sutherland, Iowa, where she also attended catechism classes all of her school years. She received her education at Paullina Community School, graduating with the class of 1960. She furthered her education at McConnell Airline School in Minneapolis Mn. In 1987 She attended Iowa Lakes Community College, graduating in 1989 with an Associate of Science Degree in Substance Abuse Counseling. Janice was a Surgical Technician and worked in hospitals at Sioux City, Iowa Omaha, Nebraska, Wichita, Kansas and Primghar, Iowa, retiring in October 2010. She also worked for many years at the Paullina Care Center as a Medical Aide and Assistant Activity Director, and at the Pride Group Home in Primghar, Iowa. She loved each of the individuals that she helped care for over the years and they all touched her heart and life.
On May 9, 1964, Janice was united in Holy Matrimony to Lt. Arlyn H. Sage (USAF) at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sutherland, Iowa. They were blessed with four children Teresa Ann, John Arlyn, Joseph Andrew and David Anthony. The family lived on military bases in NE, KS, CA. Guam, and TX, before moving to Paullina September 1982 when Janice and Arlyn divorced. When Janice’s children were younger she was involved and held numerous offices in Indian Maidens, Camp Fire Girls, Girls Scouts, Cub Scouts, Webelos , and PTA. She was a Room Mother, Teachers Assistant, Sunday School Teacher (CCD) and Red Cross Volunteer. Also, actively involved in The Officers Wives Club. Janice held different officers and kept busy with the squadron wives activities as well. Janice not only thoroughly loved and enjoyed her children and grandchildren, but also extended family and friends. She enjoyed genealogy, music of all kind and poetry, the oceans and mountains, and in younger days, oil painting, dancing, swimming and traveling. She’ll be remembered as someone who loved children and a person who cared about the elderly. God’s angels escorted Janice A. Sage to her Heavenly Home and into the open arms of her beloved Savior, Jesus Christ on April 20, 2026 in Sioux City, Iowa.
Janice leaves to cherish her memory children; Teresa Sage of Mesa, Arizona; John Sage of Paullina, Iowa; Joseph Sage and his life partner Brett Flaskerud of Beaverton, Oregon; and David Sage and his wife Rachel of Sioux City, Iowa, her special joy and love, grandsons Christian John, Nathaniel Joseph, Alexander James, and Nickholas Johnpaul Sage all of Paullina; granddaughter Claire Ann Sage of Sioux City; sister Kaye Carlson of Paullina; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Catherine Miller; brother and sister-in-law Larry and Diana Miler; sisters Carolyn Manna and Phyllis and her husband Kenneth Sholly; brother-in-law Rod Carlson, nephews Ric Manna, Doug Manna and Mark Carlson; niece Robin Rene Carlson.
