She graduated from the 8th grade, and then she attended high school in Sheldon, Iowa, at the age of 13 years old. She then started working for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. She then roomed and boarded with Mrs. Cob’s apartment, ½ block from the phone company.
She met Garness Ivan Mundy, and they got married on June 1, 1948, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
They first lived in Sheldon and then moved to Sioux City, Iowa. She worked at Kresge’s and JCPenney’s. Then they moved to Vermillion, South Dakota, where they managed a hotel for two years. She retired at the age of 55 years old. She and Ivan sold their place and bought a travel trailer. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Arizona and was in charge of the after-church coffee and baked many cakes.
