Jean, daughter of Bert and Agnes (Wold) Hunt of Primghar, Iowa, was born May 14, 1934, in Luverne, Minnesota. She moved with her family to Worthington, MN and then to Harris, IA before moving to Primghar. Her father owned the drugstore there. She graduated from Primghar High School in 1952. She attended nurse’s training in Rochester, MN. On December 4th, 1955, she married Dan Struve at the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina. They lived and farmed one mile east of Paullina for nine years before moving to the home farm in 1965. She lived on the farm until moving to Prairie View in 2017. They had four children, Mark, Gregg, Paul and Lauri.
In 1986, Jean went to work at Baum Harmon Memorial Hospital in Primghar and worked there for over 21 years. She really enjoyed working with the staff and the patients. She had many dear friends there. She was a member of Chapter FX PEO for over 45 years. Jean was also an active member at First Presbyterian Church in Paullina where she served on the Fellowship team and the local services committee.
She loved being with her children and grandchildren, attending their ballgames, school and church activities. She loved to travel, and one of her most memorable trips was an Alaskan cruise for their 50th wedding anniversary.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children Mark (Cindy) Struve of Sioux City, Gregg (Alex) Struve of Seattle, Washington, Paul (Cindy) Struve of Paullina and Lauri Struve of Paullina. Six grandchildren, Jeffrey (Keri), Brian, David, Nathan, Rachel and Jeremy and one great granddaughter Scarlett. Her brother, Leon (Marge) Hunt of Primghar, and nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dan, her parents, her in laws, Dan and Elsie Struve, and sister in-law Maxine and husband Allen Busch.
