Funeral services for Jeen H. Boer, age 93, of Sheldon who passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Vista Prairie at Fieldcrest. His memorial service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon with Pastor Brian Dunn, officiating.
Graveside service with military honors will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Greenwood Cemetery in Matlock.
Visitation with family present will be from 5 to 7 P.M. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon.
Arrangements are under the care of the Andringa Funeral Home – Sheldon.

Jeen Harold Boer, the son of Jacob and Ethel (Holtrop) Boer was born on August 1, 1932, in Doon, Iowa. He received his education through the 6th grade at Doon Christian and through the 8th grade at Sheldon Christian. He enlisted in the United States Army in January of 1954 and was honorably discharged in October of 1955. After his discharge he met Joan Eskes in Grand Rapids, Michigan and the couple were united in marriage on April 5, 1957, in Grand Rapids. They moved to Ocheyedan, Iowa and farmed for 3 years and then they moved to rural Sheldon, Iowa, where they farmed. Joan preceded Jeen in death on May 24, 2017. On August 11, 2018, he married Barbara Hoekstra.
Jeen was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. He was also a member of the Christian Retirement Board and Christian School Board. He enjoyed fishing, golfing (where he made a hole-in-one), bowling (where he bowled a perfect game, 300), watching sports, visiting people in need, pastoral visits, and playing cards. One of his recent honors was traveling with the Honor Flight.
Jeen entered the presence of his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Fieldcrest at the age of 93.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara of Sibley; four children, Beverly (Dirk) Lockwood of Byron Center, Michigan, Sharon (Randy) Schouten of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Glen (Michelle) Boer of Sioux Center, Iowa and Amy (Jason) Wagenaar of Archer, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren; Barbara’s children, Ivan (Peg) Hoekstra, Tammy Hoekstra all of Ocheyedan, Iowa, and Linda (Jim) Horan of Omaha, Nebraska; siblings Gerry Boer of Brandon, South Dakota, Hank Boer of Hudsonville, Michigan, Vine Heimstra of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Ed (Fran) Boer of Byron Center, Michigan, Harlan (Joan) Boer of Sioux Center, Iowa, Andy (Phyllis) Steensma of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Roger Boer of Sheldon; sister-in-law, Karen Boer; also other relatives and friends.
Jeen was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Joan, siblings, Myrtle (Ralph) Bootsma, Fred Boer, Dale Boer, sister-in-law, Corynna Boer, brother-in-law, Gary Heimstra.
