Services for Jeffrey “Jeff” Schwarz 60 of Sheldon who passed away on Tuesday June 9, 2026 at the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center. Services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday June 15, 2026 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sheldon. Father Siby Punnoose will officiate.

Burial will be at a later date at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Cemetery. 

Visitation with the family present will be from 2 to 4 P.M. Sunday at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon with parish rosary at 4 P.M.

Arrangements are under the care of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home of Sheldon.

Jeffrey Lee Schwarz, the son of Bernard “Buck” and Marjorie (Krogman) Schwarz, was born November 8, 1965 in Sheldon, Iowa. He received his education in Sheldon and graduated from Sheldon High School in 1984. While in high school, he started working for his Dad, Buck, at Schwarz Sanitary Service, later running operations of the company until the time of his passing.

While in high school, he excelled at wrestling in the super heavyweight class. To this day, his record stands for the fastest pin in the 2A super heavyweight division during a state wrestling championship match, pinning his opponent in 10 seconds.

He was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sheldon, Sheldon Eagles Club, and Sheldon Golf Club golfing league. He was a former member of the Sheldon Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing with his Dad at Anglers Bay on Spirit Lake. He was an Arkansas Razorback fan, often visiting his Aunt Mary Ellen and cousins Patty and Pete in Arkansas. He enjoyed ice fishing, having just had a special trip to Webster, South Dakota with high school classmates and friends. Above all else, Jeff was known for how kind, generous, and devoted he was to his family, friends, and community.

Jeff passed away suddenly on Tuesday June 9, 2026 at the Sanford Sheldon Hospital, reaching the age of 60 years 7 months and 1 day. He was preceded in death by his mother Marjorie Ann Schwarz on May 27, 2004 and brother-in-law Mike Trigg on May 19, 2023. Jeff leaves, to cherish his memory, his father Bernard “Buck” Schwarz of Sheldon, Iowa; three sisters Janis (Rex) Chapin, Julie Trigg, and Barb Vogel of Sheldon, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth (Darius) Elder of Gulf Breeze, Florida, Jeremy (Wendy) Chapin of Waverly, Iowa, Kristi (Nathan) Punt of Sheldon, Iowa, Kathi (Nick) Stellinga of Sheldon, Iowa, Paige Vogel (boyfriend Noah) of Huxley, Iowa, Dalton (Lexi) Vogel of Orange City, Iowa; 12 great nieces and nephews, 2 great-great nieces, and countless friends and extended family members.
