Jerry J. Nieuwenhuis, 55, of Primghar, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center. His funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the United Church of Primghar with Pastor Mike Cooper, officiating.

Burial will be at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.

Visitation with family present will be from 5 to 7 P.M. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at the United Church of Primghar.

Arrangements are under the care of the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Primghar.

Jerry J. Nieuwenhuis

Jerry Jay Nieuwenhuis the son of Vernon and Vione (Bress) Nieuwenhuis was born January 25, 1971 in Sheldon, Iowa. He was raised on the family farm and attended school in Paullina. He graduated with the class of 1989 the last graduating class for Paullina school district. He was proud that he was a Paullina Panther. He went on to attend NCC in Sheldon for auto mechanics. On April 15, 2000 he was united in marriage to Jennifer Vaughn at the Archer Methodist Church. The couple settled northeast of Primghar where he farmed and trucked. The couple were blessed with their two daughters Jordan on September 16, 2000 and Jinger on January 12, 2006. Jerry remained active in farm life both farming and trucking. He passed away suddenly on Monday August 10, 2026 at the Sanford Sheldon Hospital reaching the age of 55 years six months and 15 days.

While growing up on the family farm Jerry enjoyed 4-H. Later in life he enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting and traveling.

Jerry leaves to cherish his memory his wife Jennifer “Jen” Nieuwenhuis, his two daughters Jordan Nieuwenhuis and Jinger Nieuwenhuis all of Primghar, his mother Vione Nieuwenhuis of Sheldon, Iowa; Jerry’s siblings, Barry (Linda) Nieuwenhuis of Hospers, Iowa; Kelly (Luanne) Nieuwenhuis of Primghar, Iowa, Jim (Judy) Nieuwenhuis of Hospers, Iowa and Lori (Kevin) Tesch of Paullina, Iowa many nieces, nephews and his mother and father-in-law Elaine and Bruce Green of Primghar, Iowa; and other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Vernon Nieuwenhuis on December 24, 2019.
