Services for Jervis K. Sterler, 68, formerly of Sheldon passed away on Friday December 19, 2025 in Clive, Iowa. Family Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday December 23, 2025 at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon. Rev. Kevin Gingerich will officiate with burial in the Gilman Township Cemetery in Ashton. There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are under the care of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home of Sheldon.

Jervis K. Sterler

Jervis Kelvin Sterler, the son of Roger and Dena( Haken) Sterler was born July 3, 1957 in Tyler, Minnesota. He started his education in Tyler schools and in 1969 the family moved to Ashton, Iowa where he finished his education. Jervis was united in marriage to Kris Hopp. The couple made their home in Sheldon and the marriage later ended. During his career Jervis was involved in sales. In the past few years because of ill health Jervis lived in various nursing homes. He passed away on Friday December 19, 2025 in Clive, Iowa reaching the age of 68 years 5 months and 16 days.

When able he was active in the Faith Community Church in Sheldon

Survivors include brothers and sisters; Kerwin and Kathy Sterler of Sheldon, Iowa; Valoria and Kim Verrips of Okoboji, Iowa; Denise and Lance Beimers of Hospers, Iowa; Cynthia and Tim Herman of Missouri Valley, Iowa; Rogerica and James McDonald of Sheldon, Iowa; Wayne Sterler of Wellington, Colorado; his former wife Kris Sterler of Harlan, Iowa also nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Roger and Dena and his step mother Joanne Sterler.
