                     James “Jim” Dean Schoo, age 70 of Sanborn, Iowa passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 31 2023 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sheldon, Iowa with Fr. Siby Punnoose and Fr. Tim Hogan ~ Officiating.

                     Burial will be at a later date.

                     Visitation with the family present will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Friday, March 31 2023  at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sheldon, the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home of Sheldon is assisting the family with the arrangements.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or

to the Heart Failure Society of America

Arrangements are under the care of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home – Sheldon.

     James “Jim” Dean Schoo, the son of Noel and Lavina E. (Lonneman) Schoo was born April 1, 1952 in Sheldon, Iowa. Jim was raised on a farm southwest of Ashton, Iowa where he attended a country school for a few years before attending St. Joseph Catholic School in Ashton until his senior year when he transferred to and graduated from the George High School in 1970. Jim went on to further his education by graduating from Nettleton College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Jim was united in marriage to Nancy Carlson in Sioux Falls. Jim had been a manager for the J.C. Penney & Co. for many years living in various locations. In Sheldon Jim had worked as a custodian for Northwestern Bank, St. Patrick School, he also worked Kum & Go, Casey’s and Hy-Vee Convenience Stores. Jim passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023 after a brief illness at the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota reaching the age of 70 years, 11 months and 24 days.

     Jim enjoyed playing golf and playing Racket Ball, he also enjoyed playing cards, hunting, softball, basically he enjoyed all sports and teasing his family members.

     Jim is survived by his son, Jeff of Parkville, Missouri; 5 brothers and sisters, Kathryn (Douglas) DeGroot of George, IA, Donna (Michael) Williams of Spirit Lake, IA, Diane (Joe) Poss of Rochester, MN, Robert (Kristil) Schoo of Ashton, IA and Gerald (Val) Schoo of George, IA and a brother-in-law, Gary Iedema; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

      He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Jeremy and Jason Schoo, a sister, Janet Iedema and a niece, Krystal Schoo.
