Joanne C. Hain 82 passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, October 26, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.
Joanne was born on April 29, 1938 on the farm she was currently living on. She was the daughter of Ray and Ivadell (Mews) Niebuhr. She was baptized on July 10, 1938 and confirmed on May 13, 1951 at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. Joanne attended Archer Consolidated School and graduated in 1956. In high school she enjoyed playing basketball and cheerleading. Joanne attended one semester at Morningside College for teaching. On March 17, 1957, she was united in marriage to Reg Hain at the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. To this union two children were born, Terry and Carla. Reg and Joanne enjoyed 63 years of married life together. They were a wonderful example to their family of what true love and devotion was through life’s challenges and blessings. Faith was her rock. She taught us to don’t worry about anything, but to pray about everything.
The couple’s first few years were spent in the Hartley area until they moved to the farm west of Paullina and in 1963, they moved to her farm home in rural Archer where she lived the rest of her life.
Joanne loved to garden and enjoyed canning her home grown produce. She also enjoyed helping Reg farm and raise livestock. Many hours were spent in her beautiful flower garden. She loved showing family and friends the beautiful flowers she grew. Joanne loved cooking and entertaining the family, she was never afraid to try a new recipe. She also enjoyed fishing through the years.
She was active in Garden Club, Pairs and Spares, Dorcas and 3M Club.
Joanne is survived by her husband, Reg of rural Archer, IA; two children, Terry (Kim) Hain of Paullina, IA; and Carla (Randy) Gustafson of Laurens, IA; six grandchildren, Bridgette (Bray) Gill of Colorado Springs, CO; Amber (Jason) Kienast of Manning, IA; Dillon Hain and Fiancée (Dominique Serrano) of Ames, IA; Amy Gustafson, Jason (Amanda) Gustafson, John (Bryana) Gustafson all of Laurens, IA; four great grandchildren, Wesley Hannan, Gage and Avery Gustafson and Cooper Kienast; one sister, Sherry Schuerkamp of Hawarden, IA; a sister-in-law, Peg Johnson of Cedar Falls, IA, three nephews, two nieces, cousins and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother, parents in-law, brothers-in-law, Fred Schuerkamp and Gerry Johnson and a nephew, Doug Schuerkamp.

“Well done my good and faithful servant”
