KATHLYN F. HAMILTON
Kathlyn “Kathy” Hamilton was born in Sheldon, Iowa on October 12, 1930 to her parents Ross and Emma Forward. She attended Sheldon Elementary and graduated from Sheldon High School with the Class of 1948. She was a cheerleader and was voted to the Homecoming Court. After high school, Kathy attended Sheldon Junior College where she met the love of her life, Bob Hamilton. They both transferred to the University of Northern Iowa.
Kathy enjoyed painting, camping, watching baseball games, playing card games, and working on jigsaw puzzles. Together with her husband Bob, they served as chaperones for 8 years at Teenville, Sheldon’s civic youth center. Kathy and Bob spent all their summers on Lake Okoboji in Iowa and their winters on Lake Keystone near Tampa, Florida.
Kathy was a homemaker and loved her family. She put her trust in Christ Jesus, who being God of all eternity, came and lived a sinless life, then paid the penalty of her sin by dying on a cross and rising again. Like Kathy, all who turn from their sins and trust on Christ’s finished work of salvation will be welcomed into heaven when they pass away. “He hath shown thee, O man, what is good: and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” Micah 6:8
She is survived by her 2 children, Diane (Robert) DeWaay and Jim (Barbara) Hamilton; 5 grandchildren, Jessica DeWaay Kramasz, Colin DeWaay, Jordan Hamilton, Ian Hamilton, and Easton Hamilton, and 4 great grandchildren, Taylor Olson, Josef and J.R. Kramasz, and Cy DeWaay.
She was preceded in death by her father Ross E. Forward, her mother Emma Sage Forward, her husband Robert L. Hamilton with whom she celebrated 68 years of marriage, her sister Mary Elizabeth (Forward) Morgan, and her brother Theodore (Ted) C. Forward.
