Kathryn N. Slykhuis, age 88, of Boyden, Iowa passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022, at her home in Boyden, Iowa. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at First Reformed Church in Boyden with Pastor Heath DeJong ~ officiating.

Burial will be in the Sheridan Township Cemetery in Boyden.

KATHRYN N. SLYKHUIS
Kathryn (Humme) Slykhuis was born May 6, 1934, to William and Grace (Prins) Humme in Hull, Iowa. She lived on an acreage by Hull and eventually moved to the Humme farm east of Boyden. She attended Boyden School, graduating with the class of 1951. She worked at Boyden Grocery Store.
On March 1, 1957, she married Delmar “Jack” Slykhuis at the William Humme home. They made their home in Boyden their entire married life.
She was a member of First Reformed Church of Boyden. She held several part-time jobs – Demco Manufacturing, Siouxland Floral, H & M Market and Farmer’s Savings Bank, retiring at age 60.
In January 1960, Wanda joined their family. They have many fond memories of the times they spent together. Some of the special times they treasured were Hawkeye games, visiting the Amish, high school sporting events, and going out to eat at their favorite places.
She is survived by her husband, Jack and daughter, Wanda. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Mrs. John Humme, sister, Lori (Bob) Belsaas, and other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death are her parents, William and Grace Humme and her brother, John Humme.
