            Keith D. Landhuis, age 82 of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away at his home on Thursday, September 21, 2023. His Services will be 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at the Archer Community Church with Pastor Jim Sweers ~ officiating.

Burial will be prior to the service at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon, Iowa,

Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Monday, September 25, 2023 at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

Arrangements are under the care of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

      Keith Davies Landhuis the son of Lester and Gertrude (Davies) Landhuis was born April 25, 1941 in Sheldon, Iowa. He attended school in Sheldon graduating with the Sheldon High School Class of 1959.

He then attended Iowa State University in Ames and was in his senior year when his father passed away and he returned to Sheldon to operate the family business Landhuis Jewelry Store. On November 18, 1967, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Latterell at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sheldon. The couple made their home in Sheldon, where Keith continued to operate the Jewelry Store in downtown Sheldon until 1982, when he moved the business to the family home and operated KL Goldsmith’s for many years. He had also served his country as a member of the Iowa National Guard. Keith passed away at his home on Thursday, September 21, 2023 reaching the age of 82 years, four months and twenty-six days.

     He was an active member of the Archer Community Church in Archer, serving on many different committees over the years, and a member of the Sheldon Chamber of Commerce. He was an Iowa State University fan and liked watching college football. He enjoyed spending time with his family, grilling, hunting and riding horses.

     Keith is survived by his wife of almost 56 years, Kathleen (Kathy) Landhuis of Sheldon, Iowa; their children, Margaret (Scott) Westre of Hastings, Minnesota; Angie (Steve) Fischer of Sheldon, Iowa; Brian (Cindy) Landhuis of Savage, Minnesota; Stephanie Landhuis of Sheldon, Iowa and Steven (Ashli) Landhuis of Archer, Iowa; also eight grandchildren; Samuel and Hannah Westre; Madisen and Mitchel Fischer; Zachary and Abigail Landhuis and Jaivyn Logan and Kora Landhuis; a great granddaughter, Keegan also other relatives and many friends.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Gertrude Landhuis, one brother, Lester Landhuis and his father and mother-in-law, Gerald and Lillian Latterell.
