KENNETH D. SPECHT
Kenneth Dale Specht the son of Vern and Viola (Pyle) Hildebrand was born October 1, 1944 in Newton, Iowa. He was adopted by William and Mae Specht and attended school in Hartley, Iowa. He served his country in the Army for two years. On June 19, 1964, he was united in marriage to Jolene Hurtig in Hartley, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple spent their married life mostly in Minnesota where they raised their family. Returning to Iowa the couple made their home in Primghar for a few years before moving to Paullina to make their home for seventeen years. Ken moved to Pearl Valley Rehab and Care Center in January of 2017. He passed away there on Thursday, September 14, 2017 reaching the age of 72 years, 11 months and 13 days.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Paullina and was active until his health failed. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, playing cards and riding motorcycle. He was a Minnesota Vikings fan, Iowa Hawkeye fan and a Nebraska Cornhusker fan. Christmas was his favorite season often decorating his home playing Santa Claus for hometown Christmas as well as for his grandkids. For many years he was a mechanic and loved to work on cars.
Ken leaves his wife, Jolene of Primghar, Iowa; 4 children, Todd Specht, Darin Specht, Bill Specht and his wife, Deanna all of Sartell, Minnesota; and Melissa and her husband, James Yecha of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; also 7 grandchildren, Wesley, Jessie, Jacob, Haley, McKenzie, Tyler and Darin; also other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Joni Specht, his parents and five brothers and one sister.
