Larry Lee Feldotto was born on February 17, 1944 in Sutherland, Iowa in his parents home, Harley & Esther (Puhrmann) Feldotto. He died January 29, 2017 at Taylor Hospice House in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 72 years, 11 months and 12 days. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith on May 21, 1944 and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, Iowa in June of 1958. He graduated from Paullina High School in 1962. While in high school he loved playing football and later in life he worked the chain gang for high school football for over 10 years.
Larry married Janice Busch on June 17, 1967 and they were married for over 49 years. Larry worked at Paullina Dairy Kepp Construction, Coast to Coast, Paullina Lumber and Co-op Oil Company before buying Paullina Rendering Service which he operated for 12 years. After selling the business he worked as a custodian at Paullina Community School and then South OBrien Schools. In 2003, he and Jan moved to Enid Oklahoma where he was employed as a custodian at the Waukomis, Oklahoma School until his retirement in November, 2010. He was fondly remembered by the school children and known as Mr. Larry. He was the head usher at Zion Lutheran Church and his faith was very important to him.
Larry was an avid bicyclist, wood worker and carpenter. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing especially with his sons, deer and especially turkey hunting with his bow and arrow.
His favorite hobby was woodworking and especially enjoyed making a cradle for his twin grandsons and for his great niece.
He was a volunteer fire fighter for 10 years; the Paullina Fire Department was very important to him especially going out on storm watches and taking training classes at Northwest Iowa Technical College to learn more about tornadoes. He enjoyed traveling with his sons and grandsons to baseball and football games. He followed Oklahoma State, Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Cubs.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jan of Paullina and children, Corrie (Gayle) Feldotto of Urbandale, Iowa and Chad Feldotto of Aurora, Illinois; grandsons, Cayden and Cooper Feldotto and step-grandson, Brett Ferry of Seattle, Washington; also, a sister, Judy Swain of Paullina, Iowa; sisters-in-laws and brother-in-laws, Barb (Dan) Mott of Cherokee, Iowa, Peggy Spaan of Onawa, Iowa and Mike Busch of Waucoma, Iowa. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Esther Feldotto, his grandparents, Ed & Mathilda Feldotto and Henry and Clara Puhrmann, his wifes parents, Allen and Maxine Busch and brother-in-laws, Gene Swain and Dike Spaan.
