Lenora Faye Mulder, age 95, of the Sheldon, Iowa passed away on Sunday February 5, 2023 at the Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon, Iowa. Her Funeral Service will be Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 11:00am at First Reformed Church in Sheldon, Iowa with Rev. Paul Van Maaren ~ officiating.
Private Family Burial will be in the East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.
Visitation with the Family Present will be from 9:30am until 11:00am on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at the First Reformed Church in Sheldon.

Lenora Faye (Poppens) Mulder, age 95, of Sheldon, IA, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at her home in Sheldon. Lenora was born on February 3, 1928 on a farm in Turner County, SD to Folkert and Mathilda (Mundhenke) Poppens, the third of five children. She attended rural schools through the 8th grade and graduated from Lennox High School in 1946. Lenora furthered her education at Eastern State Teachers’ College in Madison, SD, where she received her teaching certificate. She taught for four years in one room schools near Harrisburg and Beresford, SD. She then worked for Sunshine Mutual Insurance Company in Sioux Falls, SD.
Lenora was united in marriage to Marion John Mulder on February 2, 1954 at the First Reformed Church in Sioux Falls, SD. Following their marriage, they made their home on the family farm near Sheldon. The couple was blessed with six children, five boys and one girl. She kept busy farming with her husband and taking care of her family. Lenora’s greatest joy in life was her family and she was proud to be a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Lenora was a faithful member of the First Reformed Church in Sheldon. She was very interested in education and was the first woman elected to the Sheldon Community School Board, where she served for two terms. When her children were older, she was employed at several different businesses in Sheldon. She was especially proud of completing CNA training at Northwest Iowa Community College and always had a strong interest in health and nutrition. She also enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, collecting recipes and taking walks.
Lenora was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her husband of 69 years, Marion; six children, Mark (Sharon) Mulder of Sioux Falls, SD, Scott (Julie) Mulder of Lenexa, KS, Lorin (Glenda) Mulder of Laurens, IA, Lisa (Bob Lenertz) Mulder of The Woodlands, TX, Steven (Lynn) Mulder of Sibley, IA, Lynn (Megan) Mulder of Omaha, NE; twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and her brother, Edwin Poppens.
Lenora was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Donald Poppens, and her sisters Evelyn Buse and Arlene Roozenboom.
