LOIS HERRON VAN WYK
Lois Herron Van Wyk, the daughter of John Henry and Edith Merle (Jackson) Lochner was born on December 20, 1941 in Meriden, Iowa. She received her education from Meriden School, graduating in 1960. She was married to Gary Herron on May 29, 1960 at the Evangelical Free Church, rural Meriden. To this union, two sons were born, Brian and Robert. Lois worked as a pizza maker at Caseys for twelve years and was a school cook for three. The majority of her life was spent on the farm helping Gary. Gary preceded Lois in death on April 5, 2005. Lois remained in Cherokee until 2011, when she married Arwin Van Wyk on December 17, 2011 at the First Church of Christ in Cherokee, Iowa. Lois joined Arwin, moving to Sheldon where the couple built their home together. Lois passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 at their residence in rural Sheldon, reaching the age of 75 years, 2 months and 16 days.
Lois was an active participant in all the churches she attended. She was a member of the Red Hats Derby Danes for 5 years, a boy Scout Leader Troop 8 for 4 years and she was a judge and volunteered during the Cherokee County Fair in the Needle Work Class for 10 years.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Arwin Van Wyk of Sheldon; sons, Brian and wife, Natalie Herron of Cherokee, Iowa and Robert Herron of Quimby, Iowa; two granddaughters, Hayley (Wesley) Hogan of Sanborn, Iowa and their children, Aurora Rayne and Lillian Lois and Hannah (Derek) Driesen of Cherokee, Iowa and their children, Adalyn Allee Grace and Hadley Jo; sisters, Dorothy Lochner of Turlock, California and Shirley Lochner of Cherokee, Iowa; brother-in-law, Carey Hetrick of Cherokee, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Lochner of Lebanon, Missouri and Peggy Lochner of Cherokee, Iowa; also other relatives and friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Henry in 1967 and Merle in 1998; husband Gary in 2005; five brothers and sisters and one nephew.
