            Services for Marc R. Johannsen, age 38, of Paullina who passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at his home.  His funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina with Rev. Donald Meyer ~ officiating.

            Burial will be at Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina.

            Visitation will be after 3 P.M. with family present from 5 – 7 P.M. on Monday, August 14, 2023, at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Paullina.

Marc Robert Johannsen, the son of William and Beverly (Jalas) Johannsen was born on July 24, 1985, at Baum Harmon Hospital in Primghar, Iowa.  He was baptized on August 11, 1985, and confirmed on May 7, 2000, at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina.  He received his education from South O’Brien School District and graduated in 2004.  He went on to further his education at Kirkwood College and graduated from Iowa State University in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in Ag Business.   After graduating he began working for Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc. in Algona.  On June 25, 2016, he married Lexi Chapman in Milford, Iowa and to this union, one son, Weston was born.  Marc’s passion for farming brought him back home to farm with his dad and he began working at Iowa State Bank.  Marc passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at his home at the age of 38 years and 12 days.

     Marc was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina; he was also a member of the Paullina Chamber of Commerce.  He had many hobbies that included hunting, fishing, and golfing.  His son Weston was the light of his life.

     Left to cherish his memory are his son, Weston, parents, Bill and Bev Johannsen of Paullina; brothers, Tom (Barbra) Johannsen of Federal Way, Washington, Jeff (Heather) Johannsen of Grimes, Iowa and Gary (Stephanie) Johannsen of Tea, South Dakota; nieces and nephews, Cary Dabbs, Jack, Mary Margaret, Madison Johannsen, Mariah (Levi) Kraliks, Braden, Averi, Kennedi, Sampson, Jalas, and McCoy Johannsen.  He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, cousins, and many friends.

     Marc was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, Roy and Delores Jalas and Clarence and Elsie Johannsen.
